Unum But Not Today: an unsettlingly perfume just like a movie
Unum But Not Today perfume by Filippo Sorcinelli hallenges our habitual and habitual tastes, our sensory and spiritual certainties. Inspired by The Silence of the Lambs. A fragrance which is conceptual, meditative, even provocative.
"You use Evian skin cream, and sometimes you wear L'Air du Temps, …but not today". These are words that Hannibal Lecter addresses to the FBI agent Clarice Starling in "The Silence of the Lambs" by Jonathan Demme (1991). Unum But Not Today perfume is a fragrance extract inspired by the saga of Hannibal Lecter, the protagonist of a series of suspense novels by Thomas Harris, represented on the big screen by Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme, but also by Micheal Mann (Manhunter, 1986), Ridley Scott (Hannibal, 2001), Brett Ratner (Red Dragon, 2002), Peter Webber (Hannibal Rising, 2007).
Unum Filippo Sorcinelli is a line of fragrances from the versatile creative of Romagna that also includes jewelery, photographs and clothing. But Not Today Unum is the latest addition: a chilling scent, one that shakes us without being traditionally sweet, romantic, fresh or sensual. Unum But Not Today perfume is a fragrance that challenges our habitual and habitual tastes, our sensory and spiritual certainties, our daily and reassuring way of being and knowing each other. To forget one's own prejudices, including those in terms of perfumes and fragrances, is the first step towards change and new ways of being oneself. Why not try to refine your senses and overcome your preconceptions?
Filippo Sorcinelli Unum But Not Today challenges us to do it. Just a splash of Unum But Not Today to perceive something familiar that at the same time disturbs us, surprising our sense of smell first, then our truths. The formula is full, full of facets: animal notes, jasmine, musk, oak, metallic notes, white flowers... But Not Today perfume's concept is the agonizing relationship between the FBI agent Clarice Starlin and the anthropophagous psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter. As we have seen, the name of the perfume is nothing more than a partial quotation of a joke by Hannibal who, speaking to Starling, tells her: "You use Evian skin cream, and sometimes you wear L'Air du Temps, ...but not today", taken from The Silence of the Lambs.
Sorcinelli has already accustomed us to a series of conceptual, meditative, even provocative fragrances, and this Unum but not today is certainly one of them. The top notes have something animal, rude, rude, brash and, why not ?, aggressive. Something that goes to blend with the flowery notes of a carnation an instant before it fades. All surrounded by the bitter notes of a twilight and stagnant vegetation. The heart notes instead open to an unexpected floral atmosphere thanks to the essence of a decidedly enveloping lily. Yet there is something macabre, funereal in this lily in bloom, as if it were placed at the foot of a tombstone. The base notes are metallic and mineral with a raw, blood, bitter aftertaste. Follows a hint of leather and finally one of honey, that touch of comfortable sweetness that closes the olfactory range of the perfume.
Unum But Not Today is not an easy-to-wear fragrance. You have to love the thrill and challenge, just like Agent Starling and Hannibal, each in their own way. The crimson red bottle is wonderful, is not it? Nevertheless, it reserves something dangerous. Precisely for this we are attracted and that's why we let ourselves be seduced and overturned by an extraordinarily disturbing fragrance.
